I’m clearly in the wrong business February 28, 2006

Clearly I’m in the wrong business. After reading today’s paper I’m going to send out the following advert:

Wanted

A part time job with the following benefits:

Multi-million dollar travel allowance

Housing Allowance with the ability to choose which house I want and upgrade it how I see fit

Company provided car with flashing blue lights in case I’m late for tea

The ability to be picked up right at the plane so I don’t have to wait in line

A blackberry WITH instructions on how to use it

I’d also like the ability to choose my own pay, and then have a committee of my …

About to tear them a new one (Verbally of course) February 27, 2006

If you saw this weekend’s Mid Ocean News, you may have read Julian Hall’s article, where he forewarns the PLP that he’s about to tear them a new one (My words not his of course), in three parts, for criticising him on speaking out about how he feels that the PLP have lost their way, and explaining in detail what he means by it.

What I can’t wait to see is the PLP’s response. As I’ve said before, instead of responding with outrage, they should have a more open dialogue with Julian and anyone else who has …

Another Capital idea!

From the “Here we go again” department. The PLP are looking to start another capital project, one that is of great importance to everyone who lives or visits this Island. From the news report this morning, they are planning on upgrading the current hospital. This plan has already been altered as they are now not looking to relocate King Edwards (or whatever they will name it) to the area of the National Sports Stadium due to traffic concerns, and rightly so. Instead they will rebuild the hospital in it’s current location.

While I know that …

Where have I been? February 24, 2006

Sorry to everyone for not being online much. Lots going on, mostly work related unfortunantely. As I finally have a weekend off, plus with the really bad weather on the horizon, looks like I’m going to be indoors most of it. Anything going on of interest this weekend? Anyone up for some Guildwars?

Father’s Log - Week 31

About 2 months left to go. Robin and I have started giving thought to cribs, baby furniture and the likes. Tomorrow we’re going shopping to look around and determine what we’re going to get for the little one. To say that Robin is excited about this is a gross understatement. If it’s one thing she loves to do, it’s shop. I have to admit so do I, but only if it needs to be either plugged in, needs batteries or requires gas. Maybe I can upgrade the baby stuff. You know, integrate an …

Thanks for telling me

Over the last two days, I’ve been attempting to use my Bank of Bermuda debt card only to have it declined. I’m just glad that it didn’t happen when I was treating a client to dinner. Oh wait, yes it did. Talk about embarrassing! I immediately transferred more money into the account, which I was sure there was enough in the first place, and asked the restaurant staff to try it again. Again it was declined. About an hour later I stopped at an easy link machine and was able to not only check …

Take me drunk, I’m home again! February 19, 2006

Here’s a rather interesting little gadget for all you tecky people who like a good Friday Happy Hour. If you’re leaving a bar and think you’ve had to much, just whip out this pen and carve your name into the table blow into the top. If the LED stays green drink until it turns red you are fine to drive. If it’s red do the touchdown dance in your underwear get a cab home. It also contains a UV indicator if you happen to be drinking on one of the beaches here. …

Berkeley - The race to disaster February 18, 2006

The Mid Ocean news has brought up some serious allegations towards select members of the Ministry of Works and Engineering. Aside from overall safety of the school (I believe the headline read it was a death trap) by an official who was brought down to the Island, and subsequently sent back as what he had to say, in his professional opinion, detailed gross mismanagement, fraud and numerous safety violations. This has gone beyond a joke, and is now serious. Some of these offenses can be considered illegal, not to mention the fact that due to budget …

The Chickens are coming! February 17, 2006

From today’s news, I’ve been made aware that a group called Ferrel Chickens is hell bent on taking over the Island. They have become increasingly organised over the last months, and intelligence has reported that there may be an impending attack on aircraft in Bermuda. Violence escalated when a Bermudian was publicly attacked in broad daylight for attempting to cross the street into the chickens turf. The Ferrel Chicken group issued this statement “How dare he try to get to the other side! No one crosses the road in our neighborhood to get to …

Father’s Log - Week 30

What a week, it seems as though everything is happening at once now. This is concerning as I’m trying my best to keep my wife away from stress in general. Unfortunately I can’t be by her side all the time. For any fathers-to-be out there who may be concerned with your wife/girlfriend/whatever’s stress levels and the pregnancy, I urge you to get involved, find the root of any stress and then do whatever you can to put a stop to it. Studies have shown that stress can adversely affect the development of a baby in the …
