Bermuda’s Watergate? May 29, 2006
I know that this government haven’t won any merit badges for organisation or planning, but this move ranks the tops in total stupidity. So high in fact that it wreaks of scandal.
How can this government suddenly, and without consent or notice, uproot the office of the Auditor General, an office who doesn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the Government, but rather answers directly to the Governor himself? By what authority do they have to disrupt Larry Dennis’ office and shunt them in a location without telephones or computers for up to a week (estimated)? Does anyone else find it ironic that they do this while he is off the Island, or while they have an important $800 million audit to do. Lets just say that if I were Larry, I’d immediately audit my own office after this move just to make sure that nothing is “misplaced”.
Allegations of scandal aside, the sheer incompetence of this move is astounding! If this is how they conduct a simple office move, it’s no wonder that projects like Berkeley are absolute failures in terms of budget, overspending and scheduling.
