You spent HOW MUCH?!? July 17, 2006
Please, please, PLEASE tell me that a decimal point is misplaced in the following figure… $633,315.00. That’s how much money you and I forked out for our ministers to travel last year.
Ok before I go on…..what in the HELL is our minister of Home Affairs doing at the top of the list of frequent fliers racking up $137,316? I’m sorry I would have thought that being the minister of HOME AFFAIRS would require him being, oh I don’t know, HOME, a bit more often than most of our other ministers. Maybe if he was HOME, and working to improve things at HOME, issues like this and this wouldn’t be happening!
These prices are outrageous! Yes, our ministers need to travel sometimes, I have no problem with that, but next time Ewart Brown feels the need to stay in a 7 Star Hotel, I’d like him to explain that to our country’s homeless first. I would be a lot more sympathetic on this particular expenditure, had Mr. Brown held some sort of conference with our Hoteliers on some of the business practices he was supposed to be observing in the process. To date, I have not heard about this happening, except for a brief talk to the House of Assembly.
Update: Limey In Bermuda has a hillarious satire on this one!

What I would like to know and have it explained to the public in laymans terms is “how much is our country in debt” and what was the debt if any before the PLP got into power vs now…..they can’t say that the debt was caused by sheltering the homeless, or assisting our seniors…..so what is the amount and WHY?????
Can that question even be answered if there is so much money that is unaudited?
The PLP obviously think we all have ‘money trees’ growing in our back yards! They certainly don’t give a sh** about how they spend the taxpayers’ money or how much of it they spend on their own comforts. Their priorities are themselves.
Mr Horton The minister of Home Affairs has a past history for such actions , just ask any one in the know if he has been caught with his hands in cookie jar before !!! So I”am not surprised at him . He is just doing what the rest of the Government Ministers are doing . Getting theres while the GETTING IS GOOD !!!!!! Just remember all you stanch PLP followers , while he and the others are getting to be fat hogs on your hard earned momey , ask yourself are you getting your share of the PIE ??
