Face to Face lineup?!? July 28, 2006
What are the police thinking? I just ready about Victor Rudolph Alleyne, another victim of a brutal beating by 4 thugs, requested to have a face to face lineup to identify the possible culprit(s). Ok a normal line up is intimidating for the victim, even behind one way glass, however to do so face to face is completely unsympathetic to the victims emotions. This is exactly why a lot of citizens fear speaking out against the thugs running rampant in our society.
Just a question for the police….where’s your brains? Really.
If the police want citizens to risk their neck in assisting them, they need to do a better job in providing protection for us, and face to face line ups doesn’t help in the slightest.
Update: The police commissioner appologises.
Update: The Bermuda Sun has an article on the increase of gang culture in comparison to the increase of silence from witnesses. This also includes ideas for legislation that was being kicked arround by Larry Mussenden last year but nothing evercame of it.
