Abusing the people who light up your world September 13, 2006
I couldn’t help but to write about the deranged individuals who have been reportedly threatening the BELCO workers for not getting their power on fast enough after the hurricane. From all accounts that I have witnessed, these guys have been working their tales off attempting to bring the Island back online after a major incident. They were even out in the thick of the storm attempting repairs, as my lights went out at about 10am on Monday and then came back on about 15 minutes later.
Of course an argument can be made about putting the power cables underground, something that has been discussed since I was a young lad. This only makes sense as there wouldn’t be a need to scramble when a hurricane comes knocking, but this is a management decision.
I truly hope that BELCO names and shames these individuals who apparently insulted and/or threatened the people out there doing a thankless job in dangerous conditions so that we can all be more comfortable. Hell, give me their names, I’d be happy to post them here!
To the ground crews at BELCO, Thank you for your efforts during the storm.
