Enforcing Bermuda’s slow limit October 18, 2006
The police were on the news tonight stating that they will be booking people for going over 35k starting tomorrow.
Er, 35k? Hmmmm it’s 9pm now, I have about 10 minutes to finish this post before I have to set out for work for tomorrow morning at that speed! Ok of course I jest, but 35k is just plain ridiculous. This speed limit was created years ago back when cars and bikes were a lot less sophisticated in terms of road handling, shocks and brakes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that we make Bermuda’s roads the equivalent of the Autobahn in Germany, but at the same time, I would rather not be lapped by horse and carriages on my way into work. I seriously think that the speed limit needs to be revised and enforced at that speed
It seems that once a year, the police get a bee in their bonnet about this, and in two weeks it’s back to the same old, same old.
Update: Stuarat Hayward would appear to agree with me. Did I call it or what?
