Sweat Shops February 28, 2007
I read with sheer contempt and disgust in the Bermuda Sun about how some construction companies have imported South American workers and are paying them about $7 an hour for a 70 hour work week. On top of this, they are skimping on various Government Taxes.
I would love to know which greedy, rat bastard employer(s) is exploiting fellow humans beings this way? Why keep the name a secret? Name and shame them! The whole process of acquiring these workers wreaks of the illegal human trafficking that we all hear about in places like China (Xing Da anyone?). As an employer myself, I sincerely hope that justice is served to the harshest penalty the law provides. That goes for any employer who stiffs their employees on things like pension, social insurance and pay.
Yeah, these guys needed a smack down from my stamp!
