Gooooood Morning Vietnam! October 31, 2007
In the news papers and all over the radio, the top headline for Bermuda is
- Backbencher Renee Webb comes out saying that Dr. Brown is a liability for the PLP
I would have to agree with her on this, but not only for the PLP, but also for Bermuda as well.
While driving into work, however, I decided to flip over to HOTT 107.5 to take a listen, just in time for HOTT Information to come on. The headlines were trivial at best and my wife and I had a bet going to see if they would even mention Renee Webb’s statement. As you can imagine they didn’t and both of us won.
I find that in the last year or so they have become so ridiculously partisan and biased that it has skewed what was once a good radio station. Like it or not, the comments that Renee Webb made were news which revolves around the highest people in our government who have been floundering from issue to issue as of late, to not even mention it flies in the face of good journalism. It brings to the imagination; going back to the Vietnam war when news casts coming from the US army were censored (A la “Good Morning Vietnam”), people scouring over the news clips and marking out text of what not to say before handing it to the news person. It doesn’t make for good newscasting, nor a good radio station.
