Out on a limb November 1, 2007

I read with amusement that Bermuda is now to open a Tourism Office in China in the hopes that it will help Bermuda go on the approved list of Countries for Chinese tourists. I’d like to take a look back at the Tourism departments focus over the years. First they took aim at the Argentina market and missed, next was Germany and missed (How is the Munich flight doing I wonder?), now does taking aim at a country literally halfway around the world seem intelligent? Especially when that countries major tourist destination outside of the Orient is Australia. Not to mention the whole South Pacific Islands which are a damn site closer to China than Bermuda is. Is it me or does this seem like another shot in the dark? The only thing stupider than this would be to market The Cook Islands for example. I understand that everyone is saying that the China summit is a smokescreen to avoid the whole Privy Council ruling, but don’t you think this is taking the rouse a little too far? Must this Government blow it’s coffers on every ridiculous idea that comes to mind?

Really?

China?

What’s next?

Mars?

Extra bonus point as well is this quote

“This is critical. We are confident we can make this happen with the help of the British government.”

Wow, strong words for someone hell bent on independence.

I have but one word to say: SARS!!!

Remember SARS? How do you think it got to Canada? (IF you really don’t know, ask me…)
Ok, I know it’s a stereotypical thing to say, but I say it in jest.

Hey that one line “with the help of Britian” made me smile too….this is a man who wants to sever ties with Britain…blatantley disrespected the Governor on many occassions and now wants their assistance……

Good job he’s not leading a country or something…oh wait he is….

I just hope that we all wake up at the next election!!!! If there is any seat lost by the PLP I pray it is his….so even if they win the election he will no longer be Premier!!!!
